Hi, I’m Darcel

I created this coaching program to help you get your law firm open while also prioritizing your well-being.

Don’t keep waiting to open your law firm.

We can make your dream a reality in the next 8 weeks.

Let me take you back to 2013. I had two small children; my daughter Lucy was three and my son Maxon was one. I was unhappy in my career, but knew that a career change would require me to work 50+ hours per week and that just wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted to be able to spend my mornings with my children, to have the flexibility to work part time and still have a good income, to be home with them when they were sick, and to just be able to have more control in my life.

That all sounds great, right? There was a big problem.

I had no clue how to open a law firm. I didn’t know if I could do it. I didn’t have any lawyers in my family. I didn’t know how to open a business. Law school didn’t teach me anything about how to open and run a successful law firm (at least not back when I attended law school).

Sound familiar at all?

Finally, I decided to take action in 2016 and make my dream of being a law firm owner a reality. But don’t wait three years like I did!

Let’s get you the coaching support you’ve been looking for. From another lawyer mom who opened her own law firm, who knows what it’s like to wear “all the hats”

I’m so proud to announce my newest coaching program

“Mamas Building Law Firms”

In this eight week program, we’re going to turn your dream of owning a law firm into a reality. Follow the steps in this program, and in two months, you will be open for business. So what do we cover?

  • Intro:

    • Understanding your “why” for wanting to open your own law firm; getting clear on your vision.

    • How to create your exit plan if you’re currently employed elsewhere

  • Week 1:

    • We’re going to lay the foundation

      • Naming your law firm

      • Practice area(s)

      • Website and email set up

      • Location

    • Set up business plan

  • Week 2: Preparing your plan to get new clients

    • Defining your ideal client

    • The five pages you MUST have on your website

    • Identify referral sources and mentors (you’ll have me as your coach, but let’s get you some additional peer support also!)

    • Identifying organization you can join/serve on that are in alignment with your goals

    • Social media set up (Yes, we’re going to do this step! But I will help you)

    • Identifying content for your firm

  • Week 3:

    • Build out your social media (Again, I’m going to help you!)

    • Set up your Google calendar

      • Integrate this for both work and personal (we need to ensure you’re on your own calendar because you are a priority in your own life!)

  • Week 4: Content creation week- batch creating content for your law firm (yes, we’re spending the whole week on this so we can get your first quarter’s content all done!)

  • Week 5: Start building your referral and mentor network

  • Week 6: Let’s set up shop

    • Your budget for opening your law firm (And I’ll show you my exact numbers from when I opened my law firm)

    • What you need to buy (Again, you’re not reinventing the wheel. I show you exactly what worked and didn’t work for me)

      • Hardware

      • Software

      • Supplies

      • Insurance

    • Business entity structure set up

    • IOLTA/Operating bank accounts

  • Week 7: The Internal Processes

    • Engagement Agreements (And of course, you get mine to use!)

    • Systems and processes I use and recommend

    • Organize your digital file system (I use Dropbox- I’ll show you how mine is set up)

    • Create your templates (Believe me, you’ll thank me later when you’re busy with clients!)

  • Week 8: The Wrap Up

    • Set up payment processing

    • Set Q1 and year 1 financial goals for firm

    • Open your doors for business (physically or digitally!)

And just like that you’ve hung your shingle!

You can do this! Believe me, if I can, you most certainly can. And with this program, you’ll get to the finish line a lot quicker than I did. Like I mentioned above, I procrastinated on opening my law firm for about three years because I doubted myself. I’d be even farther ahead if I didn’t do that! I don’t want you to make that mistake.
